We need your personal involvement because the CPOSF is a strictly Non-Profit organization. Your donations enable us to provide scholarships to our eligible family members and to invest a portion of your contribution so that the fund will continue to grow. For the CPOSF to succeed, we as the CPO community must be willing to support the Fund through donations and through concerted fund raising efforts. Don't forget, our long-range vision is to be able to provide assistance to ALL qualified applicants. While that is a very positive and lofty goal, it is no small undertaking and it will take everyone in the CPO family community working hard with each other and with our benefactors to realize success. In 2006 the CPOSF was part of the National Combined Federal Campaign Fund Drive. CPO's throughout the nation can make contribution,s through the CFC. Our CFC contribution number is 11549.
Funds, money, cash, assets - this is what enables the CPOSF to survive and be a benefit to our CPO community. Historically, Chief's Messes have a wonderful reputation for being generous to a fault to local charities around the world. So, raising money for charitable causes is certainly nothing new. To date, however, our collective efforts to raise monies for educational scholarships for our very own family members are minimal, at best. Many CPO Messes have contributed to the CPOSF on a limited basis, usually once a year during CPO Initiation cycles, but never before has there been a concerted year-round Navy-wide effort to bolster the bottom line of the CPOSF. If we are to meet our mission statement and our vision of helping as many eligible family members as apply, then we as a Chief Petty Officer Community must buckle down and, through coordinated orchestrated efforts, begin to actively and consistently raise funds for the CPOSF. The following is meant to be an effective guide or template, if you will, to aid you in finding inventive and fun ways to pursue fund raising events for the benefit of all those who we proudly count as CPO Family.
1. Include in CPOA by-laws that one months dues are donated to CPO Scholarship Fund
2. Have a silent auction of donated goods and/or services
3. Have a command or regional CPO Birthday Ball with proceeds to benefit the CPO Scholarship Fund
4. Designated donations to the fund in the name of an individual retiring, transferring or in memorial.
